English Quiz Competition at Burhani National Urdu High School

  Recently at Burhani National Urdu High School  an  ‘ English Quiz’  was organized by the English Club of the school.  The programme commenced with the verses of the Holy Quran recited by   Mohd Adnan , a IX class student followed by Hamd by Umme Kulsum, X class student. Mrs. Jyoti Khose, Master Trainer in ELISS , English Teacher in Godavari Public School, Aurangabad. , was the judge of the Competition.  Headmaster of the school, Bohra Mushtaque Ali presided over the function. There were three groups  1)  Jane Austen  2) Emily Dickinson  3)  Mark Twain ,containing nine participants in each group  from VIII to X classes. The quiz contained five rounds. First was vocabulary round having questions based on  1) synonyms 2) antonyms 3) single word for many words .  Second was the Grammar round containing  questions on Tenses, Degree and  Interchange of Assertive to Exclamatory. In  third round Riddles  were asked. Fourth round was   based on Proverbs i. e completion of Proverbs and telling the equivalent proverbs in English for the Urdu proverbs given and Fifth round contained Developing a funny  story further those two lines given by the judge and   the Picture Description . The Quiz  was conducted by Mrs. Sayeeda Zameer Khan  who also guided the students  whereas rules for all the rounds were told  by  Kaniz  Fatema ,both are the teachers of the school.  Other teachers played different roles. Such as  Mrs.  Saba Firdous was the time Keeper, Mr. Sk. Ateeque Ahmed was the scorer showing accuracy and transparency while scoring  .  Showing the Excellency in the Language all the participants gave spontaneous responses. Mark Twain, the winner of the Quiz , scored 36  marks , the runner up group  Emily. Dickinson obtained 32.5 marks and Jane Austen group scored 27.5 marks.   Contestants  of the quiz Umme  Kulsum and Zubiya presented the  poems composed by them, a IX class student  Maheen Ashna presented an  inspirational song in English and Arabic.  Result was announced by the headmaster of the school and  Prizes were given away by Mrs. Jyoti Khose, the Judge of the Quiz.  The Judge ,in her speech , appreciated and admired the performance of the participants and congratulated them .  Secretory of the society appreciated the programme and congratulated the Students Head Master and the staff.  Vote of thanks in English was given by Saba Khan and Ayesha Ara , Students of class IX.
